I have a replica of the printed 1830 (first edition) Book of Mormon; it has 590 pages. The translation of the Gold Plates (through the gift and power of God) took Joseph Smith, Jr. three years. Why so long? Persecution, lost 116 pages, but mostly persecution. Rant all you want, anti-Mormons, it ain’t gonna stop someone, both regular Mormon and someone investigating The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, from having a personal testimony. Anyway, I’d like to hear how long it would take Mr. Patterson to manually copy the Book of Mormon.

Indeed. Such an exercise probably would make you quite knowledgeable on Scripture, and make you think of the printing press as the greatest invention ever.

I don’t believe “long distance gas pipelines” have any “additives” placed in the line until it is at the point of sale to the local utility company or to a high volume customer. The long distance pipeline companies gathering, transmission and storage systems are additive free. If the buzzards are used for leak detection, it must be in another country where stringent safety regulations are not in place.

Don’t forget the mine canaries, which were suspended from the ceiling of the mine in cages to detect poisonous substances in the air; if the canary died, everyone got out.

And if Mr. Patterson was paying attention, it’s probably the last time he opened that book. Half the atheists I know started their journey by studying the “Truth” of their holy books.

Reading that book was a huge waste of time- even a bigger waste of ink and paper copying it! His time is apparently worthless.

A Xerox copy machine would have saved a lot of time, & no proofreading for mistakes!

im surprised that noone mentioned that jews copy the jewish bible by hand all the time. granted, most often its just the five books of moses, but the rest is done as well. and it must be done meticulously, without any mistakes, even a letter.
