Lucky that Michael took his Teddy with him or his mom might have thrown that out also.

My Mom had a sure-fire way of getting me to clean my room. All she had to do was say “You do it, or I’ll help you.” Her “help” consisted of asking me “You don’t really want this, do you? Good! Into the trash it goes.” I lost a lot of my best junk that way, but I couldn’t complain because most of the time she was right (ruthless, but right), and I did have a chance to say “no” and keep the stuff I really wanted. Finally I got wise and started keeping my room clean myself. Nowadays I’m not as ruthless as she was, but when I clean, I still end up with a big bag of junk for the trash.

I think most of us tend to keep too much for too long. Even as adults. I remember the strip where they have a yard sale and even Elly and John don’t want to give us their “junk.”

But of course. Children come with messy. That’s a fact that mothers like Elly have to accept. Dogs too.
