Because god knows you can only think about one problem at a time, and it’s certainly impossible to work on the ones that are solvable and are within your own nation.

Well, yes. Al Qaida is, on a global scale, a miniscule thing. They threaten hundreds of people. Tragic, but less than a blip on a historic scale, yet the US spends billions to fight them.

Iran’s nukes are non-existent, and pose a realistic threat to no one, yet the US spends countless hours worried about them.

Syria’s genocide is horrific, and the world should focus on it.

Financial calamity is a great threat, and its cause is the austerity movement. The blame is on Reagan and Thatcher and all those who follow the toddler attitudes of Ayn Rand and Gordon Gecko. Get rid of supply-side policies, focus on redistributing that wealth to the working class, we’ll be fine.

But fossil fuels are going to kill our civilization. It is going to choke our rivers and kill our food supply while flooding our coasts and making large portions of the world uninhabitable.

didn’t Obama promise in the 2008 campaign to go after the Evil Coal Industry in the USA?-What is ironic is the fact that hybrid electric car drivers must use electricity made with coal to charge their car batteries. HA.-Wait until all other fuels rise in cost to drive and to heat our homes and businesses….It will be the Obama-Inflation of energy for all Americans.

Your memory needs to be refreshed. Here’s the first paragraph of the wiki article on “Global Cooling”:“Global cooling was a conjecture during the 1970s of imminent cooling of the Earth’s surface and atmosphere along with a posited commencement of glaciation. This hypothesis had little support in the scientific community, but gained temporary popular attention due to a combination of a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s and press reports that did not accurately reflect the scientific understanding of ice age cycles. In contrast to the global cooling conjecture, the current scientific opinion on climate change is that the Earth has not durably cooled, but undergone global warming throughout the 20th century.”

Fossil resources, and the carrying capacity of the planet (in many ways) are finite. “Deniers” don’t believe it, and are the foils of the corporations out for short term profit (even 200 years is VERY short term in geologic time).

Human civilizations have gown, and died. Human population keeps growing, and without limits on the destruction of resources, it will die out.

Cockroaches and other insects are bound to outlast us, mammals, avian populations, reptiles and amphibians, and yes some insects, are already dying out because of our actions, or inaction.

The simple fact is, our profligate ignorance about the science of how the planet works is far mor likely to kill off our species than war.

Just Google “Asian Brown cloud” and look at the pictures, folks. I have been in Mumbai on a clear day and seen a brown sky. I have seen the people of Beijing wearing masks outside. Lung disease is rampant in China.http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcommons.wikimedia.org%2Fwiki%2FFile%3AGiant_Brown_Cloud_Storm_over_Asia_(NASA).jpg&h=0&w=0&sz=1&tbnid=ybVH2VFMmeZHxM&tbnh=194&tbnw=259&zoom=1&docid=nvpFylSE5xRpoM&ei=5jXQUbvTDdj84APgl4HoCw&ved=0CAIQsCU

My favorite political phrase “Climate Control”. I can’t wait to see the “person” that can do that little trick.

Amazes me that people actually think you can control the climate. Get a grip folks.
