Good morning to all Vagabonds:Hope David and Rita survived their celebrations for this year. Only 364 days until the next one.Weather still the same. Hot, humid with occasional T storms although the ones in my area haven’t been too bad.
@Dkram, thanks for remembering me and my interest in Turkey. Speaking of that, my Azeri friend is flying in from istanbul tomorrow. This will be a busy summer for me; I still have to get my will done. Yesterday I received a spacer from my pharmacy to improve the delivery of my asthma medicine. I hope it helps.
Thank you to all the Village for your birthday wishes yesterday. You know how to put a smile on my face!
We had another hot one yesterday……..96 during the day and only cooled off to 60 during the night. Oh well, it only lasts a few days at a time, then it’s back down to reasonable summer temps in a while.
Morning, Vagabonds.Rita, I didn’t return to ByE yesterday after my morning comics reading, so I just found out about the birthday. Happy (belated) Birthday!
Hi hi all..For the weather, it’s a changin, one more wet day then, they’er saying a few dry days and cooler, then heating up again..Hum, dust storms in AZ, Rain in CO. I’m waiting for it to start raining frogs. (rib-it).I think I need a nap, have a nice day..ttfn
@davidf42: When you start working again on your family tree, just remember two things. #1 is, don’t be surprised at what you find and #2 is, a family legend, or tale, is usually just that. Been there, done that. Good luck.
@Woodworker & David: Yes, that’s true about family legends. Everyone said my great great grandfather lived to be 116. I found his death notice in the Polish archives and it said he died in 1901 at the age of 96, meaning he was born in 1805. then i found his father’s death notice for 1846, saying he died at 73, making him born in 1773. No way could my gr gr grndfthr be born in 1785 (116 years) making his father being 13 when he was born.
The weather here is becoming more like what Woodworker reports. Hot, humidity at over 40% (outrageous for here!) and thunderstorms. It is raining a bit as I type this. We are all hoping for quite a bit of rain to help put out the fire on Mt. Charleston. Yesterday evening we went for a walk in the park and could see the fire on the ridge of the mountain. We are more than 30 miles from there, so as you can imagine, it’s a pretty big fire. More than 25,000 acres so far. The winds changed yesterday and it is once again completely out of control. Rain would be good…..
Speaking of our walk last night, we took Pinto (our cat) with us on his leash. He had a grand old time stalking every blowing leaf and checking out every bush, light post and rock along the way. Walking with a cat is very slow going. It is also fun to watch other people’s faces when they realize he’s a cat on a leash. Broad grins and pointing fingers, mostly.
Yesterday we had our happy hour at 4PM in the grove by the lake- perfect weather w/ light breeze in our little (seasonal)community. It’s a nice opportunity to socialize and meet newneighbors etc.
Thurs. cards at 6PM for some of us
Enjoy your day & let us all hear the birds FRI. :-)
@JanCinLV: Wish our humidity was only 40%. Lately it has been around 85%. That means that the dew point is about 90 and when that reaches the day’s temp it means that you are almost in a fog. Had rain this morning that turned into a T storm around 11:00 am. Now it is not doing anything, just being cloudy and hot.
