Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for June 28, 2009
Transcript:
Mom: Good night, Alice! Alice: Mom! Not yet. Mom: Alice, we read "Princess Piesmasher and the Ten Angry Bakers." Twice. We sang the Nighty-night Song. All sixteen verses, plus choruses. We did the Hugaboo Dance. Daddy got a bloody nose doing the Oopsie Bedtime Pratfall. What's left? Alice: I'd like to individually thank each of my toys for another day of loyal service to me, Alice. I'll start with Bubsey Clownpants - Mom: Good night. Alice: Someday I'm going to extend my bedtime ritual to dawn. Beni: Then she'll be tired and cranky ALL the time! Dill: Oh, good.

I think Dill’s expression and the yellow balloon like “good night” indicate sarcasm…

Well, here’s the way Jenny Owen Youngs sings it, anyway. This might not quite be the one……
