I often wonder if modern-day superheroes serve the same purpose that demi-gods such as Herakles and Perseus did? Moral and ethical instruction, with a lot of comic relief. Myths, as Bulfinch, Hamilton, and Graves explained have served historical as well as religious traditions. Instruction wrapped in entertainment.
