That way, every citizen was capable of defending the Fatherland, if necessary. From the Hitler Youth to the Volkssturm, the Nazis believed in an armed populace. The only people whose weapons were confiscated were the Jews and “undesirables”, kind of like how the right wing pundits say we should keep the guns away from criminals and mentally ill only.

Every year, guns in this country kill ten times as many people as were killed on 9/1/01. One kid in a school kills six times as many people with a gun as the “mad bombers of Boston” killed with their bombs.
Perspective means nothing to the NRA, or it seems our local “conservatives”. (BTW, as often stated, I’m a “lefty” gun owner who supports stricter regulation of firearms in the U.S., not banning, but some serious regulation. And, btw, that claim of “thousands” of existing gun laws NRA folks make actually boils down to just a little over 300, in total.
