After 25 yrs at the same company, I had 6 weeks vacation plus 11 paid holidays. It was an illusion.Taking vacation was held against you as it adversely affected the way the company figured your monthly production.
Or Union covered jobs where your vacation builds over time and you have the option of taking the time off or being paid for anything over your mandated 2 weeks.
I also worked for one company where, if you took your vacation of 1 week, you were fired 1 week after returning to work. Proving yourself an ungrateful wretch you were stealing from the company, as you were paid for time you didn’t work.

Move to Western Europe. Those countries have longer paid vacations, and guaranteed by law rather than negotiated with individual employers.
