Somehow I like the idea of a country where the forebears were convicts. I live in a country where the forebears were religious whackos. And it shows. When I read Farside99’s post I couldn’t help but think of four Wiley bears. Sorry Farside99, I’m not being critical, it just happened.

I wonder about adoption fees. I was adopted in 1944 by my stepfather when he married my Mother. They just went to the courthouse one day and had it done. The fee must have been quite low because Mother was working at the base laundry and my Stepdad was in the Army and only had a Sergeants pay.I know that fees have been waived or substantially reduced nowadays in hardship cases. There are adoption days in courts where the lawyers waive all fees for families of limited means.

The UAW newspaper “Solidarity” had an article about some UAW members in Michigan peacefully protesting near a Trump rally with signs protesting Trump. The Latino-heritage man was singled out by the rally crowd. One woman stood near him held up hastily lettered sign “Wall construction crew”. One guy told him to go back where he came from. The Latino-American was born in Saginaw. Some TB (tea bagger) ran up to him and spit on him. The other members of the group fared no better. The protest group finally felt so threatened that they left.

An ultra-conservative Republican told me that since Obama owned all the other news stations, Fox news was the only place he could get true facts. True facts? I was afraid to ask.

I had a wooden duck with a handle and I pushed it it front of me. The wings were rubber and flapped when the wheels turned.

It’s a shame that the 5000 yo tree’s location has to be kept secret to preserve it. Who would kill a tree? Well, they are out there. Look up the Treaty Oak in Austin, TX. An ex-con poured a poison around the tree to impress his meth-counselor, who he was “in love” with. The oak barely survived, how a third of it’s original size.
