@jAN: Speaking of donating a box of books you wanted to read (yesterday’s comment): I once donated a suitcase to a thrift shop and then immediately realized I needed it for an upcoming trip. I was able to talk them into returning it to me. I should have bought it back from them, though.
Good morning, Vagabonds.The weatherman said it would rain yesterday, today and tomorrow. However, Monday was a beautiful day and, since I made no plans, I did a much-needed laundry but sat on a chair outside the laundramat and enjoyed the beautiful weather and greeted my neighbors as they passed by.
Well, my cancer check up was EXCELLENT! All the blood work numbers were in the “Normal” range. Woo Hoo! They can check all kinds of things, from organ functions to cancer and tumor indicators. ALL were in good shape! Thanks be to God.
Our move from California was a bit different…….at first we intended to keep the house as a “vacation” house, so we only moved some things. We would take several trips down to CA, and bring back a car full of “things”, and bought all new stuff for Montana. Then, when we discovered how expensive the CA house was after 2 years, we sold it and did the move ourselves. MMM is a very stubborn male, and insisted on driving the U-Haul himself. No problem, except the air conditioning was broken! We didn’t want to unload the truck (the biggest they rent), so he drove the desert in the heat of August! Once we got past Cedar City Utah, everything went smoothly. We had friends and family help load the truck in CA, and friends help unload the truck in MT.Our kids got their “family heirlooms” during that move, and Goodwill and friends got the rest.
David, I hadn’t realized that you were only moving three blocks. The photos you sent last August made it seem pretty isolated, in the “deep woods” so to speak.
I was thinking about the donating of used items that we all do and it reminded me of something my pastor keeps telling us. Calvary Chapel Downtown Las Vegas runs a used clothing ministry, and that’s where most of us in the Henderson church donate our “gently used” items. There are some items that nobody wants to buy used, so Pastor Larry keeps reminding us that “Walmart sells socks!”, a gentle reminder that people need the more intimate items of apparel as well as shirts and trousers.
