Sorry, Rhiannon. These guys are sports fans, not students of mythology. Try tickling them with myth-made-funny. You could call it…[you know].

Those guys pronounce Celtic like “Seltic”, whereas Rhiannon would pronounce it like ’Keltic"

Some have put forth the idea that (King) Arthur was a strong Celtic clan leader that brought the various clans together, and did weapon trade with Roman ships. (Damascus steel? Excalibur?) Bronze swords were once cast in marble and the phrased used for removing the sword was to pull it from the stone. Also presented was that the volcanic winter caused by the 535 Krakatoa explosion may have been the cause for the illness that claimed the land.

My father invited me to a summer solstice celebration with his friends. Unfortunately I kept pronouncing “Celtic” with a soft “C” rather than a hard “C.” His friends didn’t seem to mind, but my dad did. I wonder if he was worried about fitting in with his bumpkin friend spoiling everything.

We have better PR, Quark. OTOH, I have noticed striking similarities between the Scots and the Ferengi.

Daghda, Lugh, the Morrigan, Epona, Manannán mac Lir, as well as the heroes like Cú Chulainn and Conchobor?

And, yes, Myrddin and Artur, of course—they were NOT English! They fought (and beat) the English.
