We had to first start showering after PE in middle school. There was a tradition where 8th grade boys (seniors) would force 6th grade boys (freshmen) to shower naked if they tried to weasel their way out of it. Every guy was both grateful to have their shyness tortured out of them and gleeful to torture the young kids that this tradition was self-perpetuating. There would be kids in college showering in swim trunks even though they did not go into or come out of the pool, or worse in their underwear. I really wanted to resort to 13 year old tactics, but instead I just did a hula dance while shouting “Helicopter, helicopter, helicopter. Swing batta batta, swing!” The absurdity of it was usually enough to convince them nobody cares about what they look like naked, but they do care if you’re going to shower with clothes on. How do you get to college and still can’t get naked in front of other people?
we had to start showering in 7th grade but we had curtains on all of our shower stalls. all we did was do a quick rinse off so you didn’t really have much of a chance to be embarrassed.

Japanese hot springs can cure you, if you can get past the first shock. The waters are wonderful, and no clothes allowed.
