It’s called a “bus.” Try to retain something from last year, Luann.

School started today here. Even though the first day of school was the day after Labor Day when I was growing up, our last home was in a place where the school year was Aug-May. Love getting out before Memorial Day and having more breaks throughout the year!

“You’re right, Luann. I would have NO idea what THAT’S like!Oh-h-h, no-o-o-o-o-o!”

Luann (age 13): “I hate school; it never fails to get me down!”Luann’s Dad: “Tell you what, hon: let’s trade places. YOU go to work, and I’LL go back to school; there ARE some courses that I’ve been meaning to take anyway! I mean, I’m SURE you’ll JUST LOVE commuting to work in rush-hour traffic, working a full eight hours a day, commuting HOME likewise in rush-hour traffic, to a couple of whiny and griping kids as your reward for a tough day’s work; and a full forty-hour week! Not to mention, paying the bills and the taxes!”“Never mind.”

School? That was last week’s news.
