Only Congress can write or adopt legislation. The president can only suggest, approve, or veto. If the Congress let anyone else write legislation, then they aren’t doing their job and so are still responsible for the results.

After the Republican House voted for the sequestration, Boehner said “i got 98% of what I wanted” – which includes the sequester. Stop the fiction. The Republican party wanted this.

No matter how often you repeat that lie, it’s still a lie.

“it was your corrupt tea baggers that whined us into this sequestration.”

I know you love to hammer on the tea party for everything wrong in the country, but I think you are assigning a lot more power and influence to them than is credible. For example, currently:

    Total in House 435Republicans 232 (includes 50 tea party reps.)Democrats 200Vacancies 3

    The Senate 100Democrats 53Republicans 45 (includes 4 tea party reps.) Independents 2

Don’t you think the responsibility might be ours that we allow this partisan divide to exist? It’s convenient to blame an individual party or faction but pressure exerted by the electorate before has turned their actions, we just have to exert the pressure. http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/cong.aspx

Anyone claiming Obama wanted the Sequester is making things up. The Sequester was a deal that O made in exchange for the House Republicans increasing the debt ceiling. O wrongly believed that nobody would stand by & allow the Sequester to be implemented.

“It’s only a 2% cut in increased spending.”It’s 2% of the entire budget, but it’s concentrated in a much smaller subset of total spending, & at the moment the cuts are blanket cuts, not well designed cuts target at the least necessary programs. The military will be forced to cut back on training & maintenance of equipment. States will see less money for teachers, firefighters & cops.It will take months for the pain of Sequestration to really become apparent. At the moment, too many House Republicans are willing to let the Sequester stand rather than negotiate to expect any deal.

Maybe I’m too hopeful, but I think I did notice a change in one of Tigger’s repetitive posts. For I don’t know how long he’s gone on about how come Chicago with the strictest gun-control laws in the known universe has such a high rate of gun crimes, and for I don’t know how long people have pointed out to him that people can bring in guns from other nearby places that don’t have such strict gun control laws. Well, last week, he posted the same stuff about Chicago but he added a sentence about how are you going to stop people from bringing guns into Chicago from elsewhere. I’m not saying he made sense, but it did seem to me that after untold repetitions it finally did get through to him that no city, not even Chicago, is an island.

Doughfoot: It wasn’t Congress, but the Supreme Court that legalized bribery a couple years ago. It wasn’t Congress and 3/4 of the state legislatures, but the Supreme Court that abolished the Fourth Amendment a couple weeks ago. But the Reich wing never once accused them of “legislating from the bench”, that is reserved for the rare decision upholding our rights.

So, Republicans had the Sequester forced upon them? You know that’s nonsense. If the Sequester turns out to be as harmless as some conservative pundits say it will be, will you still be ‘blaming’ it on Obama?

“Obama has authority to make cuts where he wants. BTW since when are teachers and cops and firefighters paid by the federal government?”ansonia, please get do a little research before commenting. Under the rules of sequestration, cuts must be applied to all programs, without regard to whether a particular service is seen as essential. Money can not be moved from a less important program to a more critical one.http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-34227_162-57570678/the-sequester-a-q-a/Federal Grant money is critical to the budgets of many local & state governments, including funding of education, law enforcement & fire departments. There is a reason why even Republican Governors are demanding both Obama & Boehner get off their backsides.

I for one, would LOVE to see how ACORN become the Occupy movement. These comics are not very funny… I need a good chuckle.

Uncle Joe: ACORN was started by a bunch of segregated poor Chicanos in San Antonio, to get the equal rights awarded them in 1940 when they were declared legally white. Occupy was started by mostly unemployed middle class palefaces in New York, to get the rights traditionally theirs since the European invasion of North America. Different socio-economic, ethnic, and degree of poverty, and with different goals. Only real similarity: they are both opposed by the corporate rulers and their lackeys.
