I never wrote very much “free form” I think it’s called. But back in the mid-60s, I was vieing for the hand of a fair young lady with another suiter. I had to go someplace, on a job, and was gone fot more than a week. When I got back i was told that she and the other guy had left for Vegas a few days after I left, to get married. I was pretty sad for a while, and I put my emotions into poetry. I found some of them, didn’t write a lot of them. this is one of them.>>>>>>>>>>Roaring, bluegreen, they smash againstThe reluctantly surrendering rock,The black basalt bastion that defends the land. They rear their white-crested headsTo peer in at verdant crowned cliffs,Then charge fiercely in at theeternal immobile enemy.Assault after assault smashes againstThe unmoving defenses.Slowly a break develops.Again and again,,, the attack goes on.The break becomes a crack. The crack becomes a breach.Blow after blow seems concentrated on this weakness,Til at last, another small surrender is made. The fight never ends,For the sea is never still.>>>>>>>>>>>>

Morning, Village.Slim, that’s really good. You should collect your stuff in a volume and try to get it published.

@FLORCHI & JAN: Thanks for your wishes for a safe trip. I’ll be gone from this Saturday to April 2. As long as I can use my Israeli cousins’ computer I certainly will post.

    Good morning all.

Awoke this morning to about 4 inches of wet snow with it raining lightly. Last night I had a very good meal at a local restaurant for free. Couldn’t finish it all so I brought the rest of it home to eat tonight. Not going to the gym today as I have snow blow my driveway and I figure that will be enough exercise for today.

@Florchi: Thank you for your best wishes

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

First, I must say that your poem really touched me, Slim. You can hear the anguish in it. I agree with David and dkram about publishing your work. You MUST make a collection of it, and keep it safe for posterity!

I like your picture, Mark. Is that the place where the sugar is processed? I just love snowy shots.

Our neighborhood association yearly meeting is tonight. Biggest on the agenda is the roads. We have 3 plus miles of dirt road to get to our house. Most of it is well maintained, but there is one stretch for about 3/4 mile that is really bad washboard. Tears those engine mounts right off. Our biggest complaint is the lights people put up. For some reason, people move way out here in the boonies where it’s dark, and the first thing they put up are those high powered floodlights all around their houses. If they’re afraid of the dark, why move here? Okay……I vented. (Just practicing for tonight)

Good luck with the snow, you NorthEasterneers. :))

Slim, I absolutely love your poem. You have a real talent, my friend. BTW, still love the avatar photo!

Update on the disgusting ad I saw yesterday. I complained to GoComics, and got a reply requesting a screen shot and the “hover” URL for the ad so they can take it down. They agreed with me that this is not the type of advertising they want on a site where children read comics. I’m not sure whether I want to find it again to do a screen shot or never want to see it again.

Arye, I would give my eye teeth to go with you to Israel. I have always wanted to visit but cannot afford it. (Oh, yeah, I forgot. I don’t have my eye teeth anymore, so I can’t even afford that.)

A little cooler here yesterday. It didn’t get above 80, so I was able to keep the windows open longer. Today should be just as nice.
