I tried caviar several times and didn’t think much of it – until I got some of the good stuff, Russian beluga caviar, and realized what people were talking about.
Depends on how you serve it, I was advised the best way is to make some toast, and hardboil an egg, (butter the toast if you wish) Let the egg cool, then separate the white from the yolk and chop both finely, put a desertspoonful of caviar in the centre of the toast, spread the yolk crumbs around it and the white around that, then quarter the toast, eat a square with very cold vodka.
‘Twas caviare to the general; it pleased not the million. — Hamlet (FYI, in 1601 that’s how they spelled it, and they pronounced it as four syllables.)
I don’t like fish, I don’t like eggs. I’ve never tried fish eggs, but I can’t imagine I’d like it.

It’s too salty and has a weird texture.I wouldn’t pay $1000 an ounce for it.

Caviar is merely a status symbol and nothing more. Rich folks only eat it because they can afford it.

Surprised Cynthia didn’t break into a chorus of “Roe, roe, roe your boat”.

Gar roe is actually poisonous for humans. Sturgeon roe is what is made into caviar.
