    Waitaminute! You mean Popeye had that name before he had the one eye permanentaly shut?

    Then we need to go back further to find out how he got that name!

    I actually did this while driving in the desert. Fortunately the glue did not stick to my eye because it was wet. The glue turned into small granules which scratched my cornea. I wore an eyepatch for three days. Don’t try this at home!

    Not quite, Popeye started out in the comic strip Thimble Theater in 1932. But Betty Boop does make an appearance in the first Popeye animated cartoon.

    popeye was created by segar in the 1920s as a comic strio character that briefly appear but became so popular he was to become the central character in the strip
