I really feel Cathy’s pain here. Next to buying Christmas presents for people when I have no idea what they want or need, trying to find new blue jeans that fit perfectly in every way (and at a price I’m willing to pay) is probably the absolute worst shopping experience I ever go through so I’m glad that I don’t have to do that dreaded chore very often.

    Hi, rgcviper! :-)

lightenup: Poor Jr.! I’m so sorry that sweet girl of yours has been so under the weather lately. I’m afraid I don’t understand doctors letting anyone — especially a child — suffer from something that (based on years of experi-ence) they know is more than just a simple cold without giving them anti-biotics to at least begin the process of getting better before official test results come back days later. But on the other hand, I can also understand based on the fact that we live in such a litigious society these days that they’re just trying to cover their butts from a malpractice lawsuit if they give someone medication of any kind based on their “best guess” and then possibly have something bad happen because of it. But if I were them, I’d be less worried about that and more worried about a sick child possibly getting even sicker by forcing them to wait for an “official” diagnosis before prescribing much-needed medication instead. Too bad common sense isn’t anywhere near as common as it should be these days. Hugs to Jr. and I hope she feels better soon!!!!! P.S.: I’ve left you a return message on the 10/31 board.

Hello and Happy Monday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyone had a really great weekend and a very nice day today too! :-)

Men’s jeans come in easy-to-understand sizes, and I’m aware that womens’ don’t. However, the tip they give out on What Not to Wear gets great reviews from those who have actually tried it: Regardless of the listed size, get jeans that fit the widest part of you – usually your hips. Then take them to a tailor and have the waist taken in to fit you – an inexpensive adjustment that leaves you with perfect-fit jeans! (Oh wait, I guess women have to have them hemmed, too. Do clothing designers hate the people they’re designing for?)

Being in the tech field (an application developer) I also have no sympathy for the people in the middle 3 columns – if you don’t back up regularly don’t expect sympathy. We have had to help some of our clients try to recover data they lost when they have not backed up for months. Not a fun task at all.

It is good to be back! It was a fantastic 4 days at the conference – lots of great conversations and learned many new things to try out. The after-conference in Sedona was incredible. Spend some time hiking – found I did not need to rest as often as I thought I might so seems I am recovering faster than expected. The other couples we were with had to leave early so my wife and I spend last Thursday on our own. Worked out just fine – she shopped the tourist area and I climbed the Airport Saddle, a vortex site, and spent over an hour just sitting and enjoying the view. A great way to recharge! The only downside was we missed the kids that come to our house trick or treating. Not really down since we only get about 6 kids now. Made up for it by spending Hallowe’en evening star gazing. After the couple of hours looking at various stars, star clusters, and the moon, our guide handed out some Hallowe’en treats. Made for a great evening.

We tried to sneak some of the Arizona heat back through customs but it must have been confiscated as it was not in our luggage when we got home.

Hope everyone in the Clan is having a great day.

I can relate to tech issues. Tonight, for instance, the sound on my computer suddenly stopped working, and now it won’t come back no matter what I do. Maybe restarting my computer will help, though I’d prefer not to. Maybe if I just roll my eyes at my computer … ?

    HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.
