My MIL wasn’t too bad. I did call her “mom”, because everyone else did. She lived to be 102. She lived 5 doors down from us. She did have her “favorites”, is the only thing I could say that I didn’t like about her. And she’d kind of rub that in. (me and mine were not on that hallowed list.)
For the love of God, Cathy, shut your pie-hole and let your crazy mother-in-law get back on her broomstick and fly home already before she decides to take you up on your “offer” and stay for yet another three “fun-filled” weeks of nothing but nonstop whining, bitching and complaining about absolutely everything. I know you’re only trying to make nice with her because she’s your new husband’s mother but still . . . I beg of you . . . PLEASE! She’s “fishing” for an invite to stay even longer so don’t rise to the “bait.” Her bag is packed so do yourselves — and US! — a favor by letting her go home now. It’s VERY important that you drive her to the airport and make sure she gets on that plane. Now!!!!!

P.S.: So glad that G.C. decided to expand the comments from 500 characters to 2000. It’s nice to have a little more “breathing room” to say what you wanna/gotta say without having to break it up into multiple windows in order to do it. Now if only they’d allow us to post pictures and images again! :-(
Sadly, I will admit that I have lied (umm, white lied, I guess?) to my MIL and told her nice things when she was leaving, even though she got on my last nerve while she was visiting. What can I say? I guess I was raised to be polite and I have tried to be nice to the mother of my husband, even though she is not nice to me. Biting my tongue has probably been slightly detrimental to my health, but I prefer to be the better person in the long run.
