Ohhhhh this is me. I’ll fall in love with something in a shop, buy it and think that my life is complete and I’ll wear/use/adore it every day. A few weeks later, I’ll forget I ever had it. And yet the cycle repeats.
Me too, gothic_beauty! Im not quite as bad as Cathy where I’m talking to my things and promising them quality time. But I do love things when I get them, and when I see it again i remember why I bought it. I just hope that after being away from some of my stuff for 2 years that I am better equipped to get rid of it when we return..Hello Cathy friends! Happy Tuesday!
My problem is that I’ll buy clothes for a couple sizes smaller than I am so I have brand new stuff that I can’t wear yet. I’m not much of a shoe shopper though so I need shoes to go with some of my clothes.
I would say that if Cathy hasn’t wanted, needed, or missed any of that stuff since she got got married, moved out and left it behind because it was too unimportant to take with her, then it’s time to sell, donate or throw it away. But . . . I can easily see being tripped up over things she likes / loves but has completely forgotten she owns because this is going to be ME once my husband and I start going through our house — especially the storage room in our basement — and begin separating things into the “want / keep / move” pile versus the “sell / donate / discard” pile when we buy our next house. I know I’ve got tons of things in boxes down there that I haven’t seen since we moved here 26 years ago . . . things from my childhood, things saved from our wedding, etc. . . . that I know will be difficult — if not impossible — to part with (at leastfor now), so I can really see Cathy’s dilemma here.
