Irving: Vivian and I want to go on vacation with you. Vivian: No we don't! Cathy: Really?? ...Um... That would be great! Electra: No it would not! Electra and Vivian: I refuse to waste my vacation with that yappy, ill-mannered fleabag!! Irving and Cathy: Look how excited they are! Electra and Vivian: I am not a dog person!!

I can just see it now…what a vacation that will be between Vivian and Electra being there in the same space…LOL! ;)

My dog isn’t a “dog person” either. I remember the day we adopted her 12 years ago. She was the only female in the litter and her brothers “picked on” her mercilessly because they were so much more pushy for attention than she was and they just shoved her around. It was so sad. Once we brought her home, we tried to introduce her to friendlier dogs that we knew but she never really got over her dislike of them. She’s [sort of] okay if my husband or I are right there with her, holding her in our arms in order to “protect” her when we’re around other dogs — but if we’re not, she won’t go anywhere near them, no matter how friendly they are.

A few days ago, I was at Marine Corp Recruit Depot. I saw a unit of BOTH men and women doing combat training drills. Yes, women want equality in hand to hand combat, Cathy.

For half of our married life, Pugie, our 20 year old cat, was the barrier between my wife and I. It is hard to live with an obsessive worrier, seriously anxious and quick to angry person such as I. My wife is my caretaker. She organizes my life, baby me about my fears and keeps things going in our marriage. She would get worn out. Pugie gave her comfort from having to live with such impossible man.When Pugie had to be put to sleep, we had the vet come to our home. The pain for my wife was so great, she could not bring herself to hold Pugie. I did. Nobody should leave this world without being held.
