Good morning, Villagers. yesterday, my NY house guest, who knows a bit about framing art posters, took me to Michaels in Aventura to get a covering for a poster I had that needed recovering. In the 70s I used to collect posters from the Government tourist agencies in New York. When I realized that Iran and the USSR would no longer be giving away these posters, I had them framed. Now I have the plastic to re-cover one of my Iran posters and today we’ll work on re-covering it.
@florchi: That would be a nice idea. I’m sure anything to do wth Haiti would be full of bright colors. Too bad they’re not large posters. I have 3 paintings I bought at the iron market in Haiti. I like 2 of them but got tired of the the third.
A friend recommended I use acid free coverings to preserve my poster.
Arye, definitely use acid-free backing paper, mats and plastic to protect your posters. You would be surprised what damage can be done by leaving your posters touching acidic materials. I have all but one of my comic books in acid-free sleeves with acid-free backing boards. That one came packaged in a non-acid-free plastic bag, but would be worth a lot less if I opened the package (I bought two so I could read one of them). You should have heard the howls of outrage from collectors when that book (“The Death of Superman”) was published.
Yesterday we commented on our favorite Clint Eastwood movies. How about today we go for John Wayne? I’ll start – for me it is a tie between “The Quiet Man” and “Hellfighters”.
Good question, Jan…………….it is hard to really pick out ONE John Wayne favorite!!!! All of his Westerns had the great scripts, directors, music, locations and a stable of actors rounding out the production. For a Western, I would have to choose as my favorite: Red River or Stagecoach. For a non Western……..Hatari.In all of them, he comes on strong, and is vulnerable and shows the real John Wayne.
Just yesterday was talking to a neighbor in our communityand she mentioned Haiti as it is today, we both agreed on“What the H*%$L happen to all the money send there afterthe disaster- as nothing has really changed- poverty, tent cities etc.- I mentioned that our Gov. is still trying to get a explanation from Bill Clinton- go figure
Clouded over here on the Coast today- much needed steadyrain all day till midnight and down in the 60’s—Brrrrrr

Westerns, “The Shootist” his last is a good one.War, “Back to Bataan” I have that with the movie “Bataan”. (not a Duke movie)Non Western movies, “Hellfighters”, “Brannigan” (london would never be the same), and with a little humor, “Hatari” (Steve Irwin might say, “Hatari, hatari, hatari”. ;-)And I’ve got a movie house serial with a very young John Wayne in it. Can you name it?.Ok, catch yous later..ttfn
@dkram: I didn’t think the NEK was supposed to get the storm as it is going to be an Noreaster and south-east Mass. was supposed to get the worst. Just like the storm of 78. We have been spoiled so far this winter. The way I cleared my driveway the last three storms has been with my leaf blower.
@dkram: I belive I know the serial you are talking about. It was about three cowboys and was called " The Three Mesquiters" or something like that. I am not sure of the spelling.That was back when he was still using his real name of Marion.
