Good morning Vagabonds. I’m back home in South Florida. Yesterday I had to wake up at 4 AM to take a taxi from my hotel to the bus station. Then a 4 hour busride from Merida to the Cancun airport. It was the only bus that would get me to the airport before my 3:45 PM plain was due to leave for Ft. Lauderdale, so it was a loooong wait. But at least I met some interesting people, including a Saudian Arabian dentist and his wife who live in Boston. His wife did not wear hijab and his accent was very American. His wife asked me for a copy of my book, “The Promise of Bisibi,” so I sent it to her online.
Then, while wearing my tee shirt with the Azerbaijan flag, someone on the plane excitedly told me that he was from Azerbaijan. It turned out he belonged to a Jewish community fromm the Caucasus called Tats or Mountain Jews.He lives in Brooklyn and I’ve always wanted to attend services in the Mountain Jewish or “Gorski” synagogue in Brooklyn.
The line at Immigration and Customs at Ft Lauderdale Airport were very long and I got home so tired I had no energy to unpack, let alone read the 2 Sunday Miami Herald newspapers that were delivered while I was gone.

We got the gas turned on at the house, but we found out the furnace doesn’t work. Now I have to call the AC experts to come have a look at it. We did, however, get the dishwasher and the garbage disposer working. And we settled on a color for the paint and started painting the living room. Things are finally happening.
That is quite an accomplishment deciding on a paint color. The only thing that’s worse is picking out wall paper. That’s why we paint. Temp went down to 8 last night, going to be in the teens today. Not to bad if we don’t have the wind. Time for me to go to the gym for my daily workout on my knee.
@dkram….. Did you have any of those snow rollers up there in your NEK of the woods? They showed some on the weather segment of the local (CBS) cnannel last night. The video was.from somewhere in Vermont.>>>>>>Arye & David & all. The coin was stuck in a crevice on the bottom of the creek. Hard to get out of there. Coin wasn’t worth much as far as collecting goes. Pretty scratched up with a half-inch or so of the edge worn smooth over the years. And yes, it was an exciting thing to find.>>>>>>This is the earliest I have ever been on B&E.
Hello friends..At about 5 this morning the lights went out, (I know this because my cpap stoped working) and the furnace stoped of corse.The temp was at 15 below outside. Cool man 55 in the kitchen, thank goodness for the old Home Comfort kitchen cook stove we have.Lights came on at a little after 9..After that hot start to the day, I’m trying to get my core temperature back up..My advice to anyone who lives in colder places, have a wood stove some where in the house, it’ll keep you warm..After a fine trip like yours Arye, it is good to get home..Really getting that house squared away David, and with retirement right around the corner..ttfn
Not much happening around here (except the tree work). I’m going to my Cancer Support Group at noon. These are really exceptional women! Before I went for the first time, I was afraid that it would be a “Doom & Gloom” session. But, on the contrary…………everyone is so up beat and supportive, and funny. I try to go as often as I can, weather permitting.
David, I was struck by your “starting to happen” comment. You have been working very hard on that house for a very long time. I guess, these final touches are very exciting because you can see the results and what you will actually live with. Good thing you found out the furnace doesn’t work now rather than the day after you move.
