@davidf42: Apparently GoComics didn’t get today’s FT & B y E strips up until sometime after 6:30 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. this morning.@Arye: See my reply to you posted at the bottom of the 1/17/13 strip (yesterday’s comments).

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

It’s beach weather here, too! 25 during the night and it’s 36 so far (9:00 a.m.) Woo Hoo!

dkram…….I emailed some pictures of our tree work, and your mailbox was full again. You might want to set up an auxiliary mailbox that you don’t use for facebook. They’re all free.

Jan, how are you feeling? Your sitter downer giving you any relief yet?

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Rita, I am discovering which chairs are cushioned enough to allow me to sit. The one at bible study on Wednesday was not, even when I folded up my jacket as a cushion. I feel like the kid who was spanked until he “couldn’t sit down for a week”.

I saw a great anecdote in the TrivQuiz strip on GoComics this morning: Spotting movie legend Cary Grant across a restaurant, a journalist passed a hastily scribbled note to the star’s table attempting to verify Cary’s age. “How old Cary Grant?” asked the note. Quick as a flash came the reply “Old Cary Grant fine – how you?”

Good morning, Vagabonds. This morning I woke up very early without getting much sleep after trying to get today’s comics unsuccessfully. I was invited by the few Jews living in Merida to a special morning prayer service at one of their homes. The Jewish “community” here consists of some people whose ancestors came from Spain and secretly held onto their Judaism in spite of the Inquistion, as well as a few Americans and Canadians and Yucatecan women who converted to Judaism. The service was strictly Orthodox and even though I speak Hebrew fluently, I had trouble following the leader, a Yucatecan doctor who could read very fast in Hebrew but does not speak it and only speaks Spanish with me even though I’ve heard him speak English with others. This was followed by an american-Yucatecan breakfast of Special-K and fruit.

I returned to my hotel to sleep for 3 more hours – anytime I have to get up ve early (in this case it was 5 AM) I take a very loooog nap.

For those who don’t receive my email photos: Yesterday, a Yucatecan friend took me and another friend to his village outside odf Merida. First we visited his brother-in-law, who’s avet and raises really cute pure breed puppies for sale. Then we went to meet his parents who both have Maya surnames: Dzul = cabellero or gentleman, Pech = garrabato or tick, 2 common surnames throughour Yucatan.

Then we went to see his pig barn. There must of been about 5o pigs and piglets. I must admit the littleones were cute and the very large ones friendly. They must have known I was Jewish and would not be interested in having any of them for dinner.

We’re also having “cold” weather here in Merida. It’s so strange seeing people dress in winter clothing when the weather is really like October weather for the North East.
