Selling “terror”, of everything from a 4% tax increase on the rich, to global thermonuclear war is what keeps ’Merican capitalism going. Of course that “capitalism” is highly dependent on government contracts for the military-industrial complex, obviously means we have to reduce taxes on the wealthy, cut benefits to the middle class, and spend MORE on “defense”. Wait till the cockroaches show up at the door as the last remaining threat after all other life forms have been wiped out by either climate change, or just old fashioned greed, and folks MIGHT wake up? nope.

Really? I’d think they’d be more likely to blow up their own people. Although I’ve heard they’ve lost their first satellite, so you may want to watch out for pieces of that landing in your yard.

I nominate DrCanuck to serve as USA’s intel spy in North Korea so we can know details of when they plan to fire missiles at any part of American soil. -I propose Obama reverse his OPPOSITION to the anti-missile system that Reagan proposed and promoted. We need it and Europe needs it….SDI.

@Dr Canuck, they were expecting it to happen on Christmas,or New Years, or possibly on the anniversary of the last dictator’s death. They were not expecting it to succeed as it has, but as North Korea doesn’t even let Chinese allies move freely throughout the nation, it is hard to put human resources there. That said, North Korea is said to be sitting on over a dozen short range nuclear missiles and it is hoped that they have not yet made the weapon small enough to fit in rockets like the one just launched. A more immediate threat is North Korea selling rocket technology to Iran and other such states. If North Korea launches a nuclear weapon without the support and permission of China, China will destroy NK just to prevent nuclear counter strikes that would contaminate Chines territory and waters. If China gives permission, it’s game over anyway. The world will glow. So, to answer your question- We spend billions on intelligence because it helps keep us, and other nations, a little safer. Sometimes we screw up, but usually, we do pretty good. They just don’t talk about it if they can avoid it.Respectfully,C.

^apparently they weren’t too worried about dubya either. North Korea went nuclear on bush’s watch, and nobody said much of anything.

Now that Barry’s UN girl has dropped out in shame, it looks like Kerry will have to deal with them.

Boogieman. Kim-Il-what’s-his-face is way too isolated to try anything big and he’s not stupid enough not to know it. Even Hitler wasn’t mad enough to go without allies.
