Good Morning Slim and Villagers:@Slim – you mentioned the Gobi Desert yesterday – have you ever been there? The mention caught my eye as there is a well-reviewed book by explorer Helen Thayer that I’d like to read: " Walking the Gobi: A 1,600 -mile Trek Across a Desert of Hope and Despair." My local library doesn’t have the book, so I’ll have to get it from Inter-Library Loan or buy it from Amazon.com. (There is a Kindle edition) @Movie Fans: I’m working on my annual top ten best films list analysis (2012 movies), and it looks like Lincoln,Silver Linings Playbook, and Zero Dark Thirty are going to be on most all Top Ten lists from mainstream critics. I have a lot of fun doing the analysis and sometimes I’m able to nail the Best Film Oscar nominations in advance.
Good morning, Vagabonds: Ten more day before going to Yuctan.
Yesterday my sister offered me a belated hanukah gift: A pair of sandals (Ecco) as my toes are in terrible condition, shoes are very uncomfortable. I took the long busride to Aventura Mall in northern Miami-Dade County, only to find that the sansals I’m already wearing are more comfortable.
An amusing thing happened: I needed to go to the btahroom and the men’s room had a sign: “Temporaily Closed.” I pressed the elevator button to go to a men’s room on the next floor, but the elevator was taking forever, so, since the temporarily-closed men’s room door was ajar, I ran in and reached the urinal. I told the woman who was cleaning the men’s room that I couldn’t wait to reach another men’s room and she yelled, “You do this all the time!” It was the 1st time I was ever there.
Morning, Village.Rainy here in southeast Texas at 54 degrees.
I am so tired. We spent the last two days painting the house. But we’ve got the first coat on all but one bedroom now. The Great Room, two bedrooms, and one bathroom are ready for the final coat.
Another amusing thing happened on the bus returning home. I was talking to the family sitting next to me (they were Miamians) and the 12-year-old son said, “I know where you’re from by your accent: New York.” I had no idea my New York accent was so easily detected.
Hi-Ho Vagabonds..The storm is over, we have plenty of snow. Yesterday I was shoveling around my Jeep, and I noticed a pile of snow on the spair tire that was about one cubit in hight..Arye my friend, I understand and to paraphrase John Wayne, When a man’s got’a go, a man’s got’a go.And MAN I had t’a GO.Yuctan, one of the places on my bucket list, along with Alaska, and Australia. Think I’ll skip Europe though..Well David all I can say is “get’er done”..Mia-muh, Ed Sullivan pronounced it that way..Well, so long..ttfn
Aw, you men and your “gotta go” stories! hee hee hee hee.
David, sounds like you got a handle on the painting, even if it is a lot of work. I seem to loose patience when it comes to masking off all the trim. And, then if it isn’t 100% dry when I peel it off, it leaks. I guess the key word is “patience”.
Slim, the letter was in an Excel format. Do you have access to Excel on your computer?
We’re off to Great Falls…….blood platelet donation time for My Mtn. Man. :))
Another cold but pretty day here in the Southwest.
I ran across an article yesterday on Yahoo to which I felt compelled to comment. (It doesn’t matter which one.) When I do that, I get email from Yahoo showing the “thumbs-up” and the comments I get in reply. This morning’s reply was a rambling accusation of me being a “psycho” because he didn’t like my comment. It’s kind of fun reading these comments. Most of them say a lot more about the commenter than the article.
Thank you for asking about my daughter-in-law. She came home from the hospital on Monday afternoon.. She is sore from the operation even though they only put 5 small holes in her. One was for the camera so that they could see what they were doing. Also is tired but other wise OK.
