We had a senior friend who’s son (a lawyer) and his firm’s partner tried to assemble her new artificial Christmas Tree. Each of the branch levels were colour coded, but apparently that was too easy for them and they complete disregarded those markings.

By the time they were done, the tree more resembled a bush and she hated it. My wife and I went over and looked at it before it came up out of storage for the next year.

We pulled the whole thing apart, fluffed up the branches, and reassembled the tree. The mother of the lawyer said “It looks like a completely different tree!”

She asked how we did it when two lawyers could not.

I declared “We’re programmers. We know assembly!” :)

That leftover piece? Well, I glued a sponge to one end and used it wash my back in the shower!

“Huston, we have a problem”He should just give it to the little girl. She could have it put together in less than 15 minutes.

My new favorite phrase, “it’s not baby carriage science.”

One problem is that instructions on how to put things together are so badly translated from the original Chinese that if you translated them BACK into Chinese, the people at the factories probably couldn’t put them together by following the now-mangled instructions!

“Some assembly required” means “we couldn’t put it together, either”.
