From 4/8 & 4/9/1965, Moon Maid was locked in a food freezer by Matty Square (a classic Gould villain whose story led into the introduction of Mr. Bribery…but I digress). To escape, she used her “laser-thought powers, inherent in Moon people”to contact her father, the Moon Governor, for a rescue. Perhaps some of this was inherited by Honeymoon.? Just speculating.

Since we already know that the A-car is a fake (ordered by Broadway), my guess is that the only cargo it will be carrying is Stephanie… the question being: Dead, or alive?

They DO have their Super Villianess licences with them, don’t they? No point in compounding the crime by not even being licensed to do it!

INRE the last couple of days strips, the wreckage of the city in Moon Vally seems to indicate shock damage. Could this have been caused by the explosion of MoonBase Alpha, back in 1999? (Hat tip to the late Gerry Anderson)

Since Richard is USNR, and is an interregence officer, I would suggest that he could use some “enhanced” interrogation techniques on the strips writers, as they must certainly know what happened.

Back to our costumed drama. The costume I had really hoped to see this week was the one worn by a certain platinum blonde hottie we know and love. But this will do! ;)

Anyone reading that slogan on the side of the “armored car” should realize immediately that it’s a fake! But Black Piranha is caught up in the thrill of her game, unaware that Willa Scarlett may soon be going for the thrill of the kill. With Tracy apparently still on the moon, if ever a real superhero were needed, this would seem to be the time! Does any come to mind?

From that last panel, I’m starting to think that Belle might be taking the Piranha’s idea of hiring a gang seriously.

Parkour might go a long way to explaining it (think of the bad guy in the opening chase of Casino Royale). But there’s been no explanation.

“Fletcher-Collins – Good as Gould” Hmmm. Nice tribute to the folks who kept Dick Tracy going after Chester Gould retired!

I wonder if Tracy is still in space. The Space Coupe was supposed to be capable of incredible speeds, zippping to the Andes in just six minutes from the City. Will he get back to Earth in time to find out what is going on here with the “costumes”?

Trying to run two story lines at the same time is really irritating and frustrating. It’s like trying to watch a bad movie that jumps around with a lot of flashbacks. It doesn’t add anything to the anticipation or enjoyment of the strip. You never know from one day to the next which story you are going to be in the middle of. Please just work through one story line and then move on to the next.

I went into this Christmas week with excitement and happiness over the moon trip. I came out of it deflated and depressed.Note to Curtis and Staton for future reference: Christmas week is probably not a good time to feature sad tales like the death of a popular civilization and a little girl crying her eyes out. And especially not after getting people’s hopes up for something better.

yumpin, I doubt if you’ll ever find a more sensitive group that Team Tracy. But as Ken said, they submitg these strips maybe two months or more in advance. And when today’s strip was submitted, Newtown wasn’t in the news. Chalk it up to the time lag, but not the writers’ insensitivity.

Good grief, no Sunday here again? This is getting old fast. Anyway, the good news is that today’s strip is fantastic! I really like Broadway’s more sinister Penguin look, and also the look of his retro henchmen. Great cliffhanger, too. But I’m shocked by Broadway’s willingness to gun down Belle! I haven’t been this creeped out by a Tracy villain in many years.

But why Broadway bates would ever want his moll -girlfriend killed? It makes no sense, she’s always been co-operative with him. Broadway’s a monster! And moreover, have you noticed that Broadway in the penultimate vignette is almos identical to Piggy? A real pig!

Maybe it’s all been in front of us, since Xmas, when Belle was happy that the “hit” was postponed until after Xmas, meaning Belle may be having second thoughts; then you take her comment from yesterday about liking the thought of having a gang of her own….perhaps she already has, like maybe, the ones who have possibly just turned their guns on Broadway, instead of the intended targets?

Pardon me for coming up with another theory,,, maybe those rent-a-killers are actually Tracy and Sam, in disguise, and they are now shooting blanks in order to foil Broadway and have cause to arrest him for attempted murder…. This sounds the least likely, which means it might be the answer, no?

Hmm… Been a long time since I saw Dark Angel. I liked that show. Belle wouldn’t look to bad in that outfit. Be a better mach for Black Piranha as well. Dark Angel and Black Piranha, the dynamic duo, along with their champion of justice Cinnamon Knight. I see a spin-off comic in the making. (grin)

The ‘Costumes" best hope is that the bad rabbits are using Uzis. The Uzi, with it’s short barrel, is a close quarter weapon, and is best suited to spray and pray. The short barrel also degrades the delivered energy of the rounds. It is not impossible with the way the two nastys are shooting, for all the rounds to go amiss. The rounds that hit should not penetrate a good vest.

There are 9mm rounds made in France, that can only be used in a variant of the HK MP5 made for the Police Nationale which are designed for anti terrorist use, and are loaded to .357 pressure, and have solid copper conically tipped bullets, designed to penetrate trauma plates.

in any case, I doubt that Broadway has a license to do this. Even Chicago has some standards.

My guess is that the “three costumes” are Piranha, Willa Scarlett and the Cinnamon Knight – but I suppose the third one COULD be Moon Maid. (Not betting on it, but it would increase the ‘coolness factor’ of this story by about a thousand!) And remember, BP’s whole costume is made of Kelvar (not just a vest). Can’t wait until tomorrow’s strip! (If GoComics will show it!)

Fletcher-Collins deserve our gratitude for keeping the strip going, that goes without saying. But the Gould of the Forties and Fifties was rarely matched by his successors, IMHO. I found the gruesome end of Moon Maid uncalled for ( keeping her in the background would have been enough).
