    Funny how the news reports that RETAILERS predict a big increase in holiday spending. That’s like asking Donald Trump if he thinks his latest hotel will be successful.

    Best quote I read about Trump is, “if he’s so successful, why is he the only casino owner that’s failing? Even the Choctaw Indians can run a casino.”

    The fiscal cliff is not a deficit problem. It’s curing the deficit too much, too fast, by cutting the government’s role in creating jobs. The damage predicted to the economy is not from spending. It’s from not spending enough.

    You do not even have to be liberal nor a Democrat to know that consumer spending is still some 70% of the economy of the USA (certainly the Chinese know this, and they are supposedly Communistic). So simple logic (you know about logic, don’t you?) would dictate that if consumer spending fails, then so does the economy fail.

    So, that increased consumer spending is a good thing for the economy is not just a liberal or Democrat position, it is an American position. You and the other ultra conservatives on these comment boards are loyal and patriotic Americans, right??

    @Braindead:

    Wasn’t that Chico?

    I recently found out that it wasn’t pronounced Chico, as you might have expected, but “Chick-o”, as he was evidently a chick magnet. Chances are he had a different wardrobe off-set…..
