    IF you want fewer illegals, prosecute the businesses that hire them.

    Without the promise of jobs, illegals won’t come here.

    Making sure businesses don’t hire illegals is simple. Not necessarily easy, but not impossible to do. But I have yet to hear any representative proposing such prosecution.

    ^^BTW, you’d think that since Arizona’s administration hates immigrants so much, that they would want such a law and enforcement thereof.

    The vast majority are productive members of our society. I probably shouldn’t say this, but if Republicans could let go of the bigotry and make a deal giving amnesty to illegal immigrants who are contributing in exchange for tougher enforcement on new undocumented immigrants, they could pick up some votes.

    One of the dirty secrets of the United States is that every group that comes here wants to close the door behind them.

    You can’t wish for them you have to EARN them, by promoting the right policies. Please go ahead and HAVE good border security, that’s your right as a nation. But please also make it easy for people to legally immigrate. The U.S. has always been an nation of immigrants and you need cheap labor from the south (“A day without a Mexican”…). I can’t understand why a Mexican has more problems to immigrate than an Irish had back in the 19th century. But then again the Irish are white…
