We’re one simple deal away from extending the “Bush tax cuts” for 98% of us..The Republicans don’t want it to happen because if the economy were to recover, it would debunk the only part of their economic policy platform that’s left and leave behind nothing but a Talibanesque group of finger-wagging social radicals.

Blah, blah, blah. We already suffered 8 years of Republican rule. Bush cut taxes, yet the economy tanked, people lost their jobs to China, and a Republican controlled government racked up so much debt, they had to raise the debt ceiling every year.

“Compromise” implies that Congress actually did work together to solve our fiscal problems. We’d be in much better shape today if they did compromise. The “fiscal cliff” is due to doing too little too late.

Now that we’re all in the same boat staring into the abyss now is a great time to finally reach compromise instead of wagging our fingers & spewing hate & name calling. At least some Republicans are finally repudiating Grover Norquists no tax pledge & realize everyone is going to have to give up something to achieve a more balanced budget.

I’m just fine thanks. Have my job, pay my taxes WILLINGLY. Believe the Federal Government should step in and help Americans, just like President Obama did for the East Coast. But not like shrubster & cheney begrudgingly had to do for Katrina.

    Bring the troops home!

The Democrats have been all along. If the republicans do actually have a conversation and they compromise, it will be for the first time in decades.

Too bad someone in a position of power doesn’t spend some time doing that.

Look at how people are spending on Christmas already! See how many are dining out! The economy is recovering in spite of the GOP gloom/doom predictions. I’d wager that if the top levels of personal income were taxed at a higher rate, those ‘job creators’ would pump more back into the businesses and create even more jobs here in the USA.

“You mean like how Obama pledged that he would ‘to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States’ and then he stomped all over the Constitution?”That is a stupid, empty platitude with no basis in fact or reality.

What is Obama’s plan in the compromise? We understand you utter lack of knowledge beyond the Fox “News” talking points. The first step back into reality is to pick up a legitimate newspaper printed in the last 4 years. Look at the facts. Most of what Obama did was compromise with Republicans. Nearly every part of the so called Obamacare was previously suggested and/or enacted by a Republican politician, including the tax on the willfully uninsured.

Apparently “provide for the general welfare” means every man for himself?
