Sandy, worst storm since 1969 (Forbes), but hey when the collective memory doesn’t go past last Tuesday why let a little fact that it’s a “storm of the century” get in their way.

For me the most destruction I ever saw, not on TV, was the Ash Wednesday storm of 1962.

Really? Really? One storm hits the East Coast and that’s proof of Global Warming. We had a really cold Autum here in the midwest and I wouldn’t call that proof of Global Cooling.

Storms were hitting the east coast back in the 50s before Global Warming became fashionable.

Best article I’ve seen so far on climate change and Sandy is at BoingBoing:

Oh, come on! We all KNOW there was only ONE “super storm” and it happened less than 6,000 years ago, and the entire planet was flooded to a depth over 29,000 feet, even Mt Everest was under water, all the plants and animals were killed except those on the boat with Noah, and the dinosaurs wouldn’t listen, jumped ship and drowned! (along with the salmon and whales!) Hmm, where DID Noah keep the palm trees, redwoods, and Mediterranean sage?

@All of You Global Warming Crowers – I’m not denying it. I’m only saying don’t use one storm as the proof.

And for the love of god don’t use the damage as a measure. More people live on the coasts then 50 years ago, Property is more valuable on the Coast and people are building more expensive buildings on the coast. Of course the damage in $$$ is much higher now then it was 50 years ago. That’s simple inflation.

The way you should measure it is in: Storm Surge, Wind speed, rain fall, etc. If you look back over the last 50 years you will find storms that measure much worse by those factors but didn’t do as much economic damage. Because there wasn’t that much economics to damage.

I’m not arguing against Global Warming – Hell we came out of an Ice Age 10000 years ago and it’s much warmer. I’m just arguing against voodoo science and dimwits who try to connect dots with a Kindergardener’s crayon.
