    He is holding the wrong end if you want to behead a fowl. You’re supposed to hold the wings and feet in one hand. and the axe with the other. The way shown will just result in a bird running around spurting and stupid, bruising and breaking bones.

    We used to line chickens up with their necks on a plank and hypnotize them.

    My mom (farm gal from way back) had an old board with two nails in it that she would place on the ground. She’d hold the chicken’s feet in her left hand, place the neck between the two nails on the board with her right hand (thus holding the head still). Then her right hand was free to hatchet the head off.
