It’s sad how many people vote based soley upon ’What am I gonna get out of this?"

Not what’s best for the country, what’s best for them and them alone. That’s sad.

Earl’s right – it’s all about the money. Here in Connecticut, we’ve got Linda McMahon (former CEO of WWE rasslin’) running for senate. In the last 3 years, she’s spent $77 MILLION (as of the end of Sept.) of her own cash to buy – I mean, win – a seat in Congress. Never held elected office, no experience or knowledge, but she can spend, spend, spend (and throw mud like a pig). She’s just a spoiled 3 year old – “I wanna be in Congress!” and has a ton of cash to buy whatever she wants – maybe even Earl.

That just might work. I have two signs on my front door; one saying that I voted early and if you ring my doorbell for some electioneering you’ll regret it, and the other says (in German fraktur script):Mit Romney?Nein!Ohne Romney!.

OrionHow sad….but you are right. It’s like no one cares about God or country anymore. I am voting forsome one who cares about God and our country and Us-I am proud to be an American and always willbe. I want a president who is too.

So, it’s ok to spend 10s of millions of other peoples’ money (via donations) but not ok to spend your own money? That is very odd.

@poppy1313You’re absolutely right. Every one of us is a member of at least three special interest groups: our age group, our gender preference, and our employment status. Most of us are also members of several more as well.

Republicans are a lot like Freddy and Jason – when you think they’re down, they get up and keep coming after you. When you think the tombstone had been set in place, someone resurrects the monster for another cheesy sequel.

I have to give old Earl credit for enterprise. In this economy, anyway you can supplement your meager S.S. pension is a plus. Considering the number of wackadoodles running for various offices, Earl might make a tidy profit.

You might be interested in the following quotation from Will and Ariel Durant: “We must remind ourselves that nearly all democracies are oligarchies; minorities can be organized for action and power, majorities cannot.”

In our case, the oligarchy is the Republicrat establishment, with two factions which differ only in which selected Paul gets the goodies from robbing collective Peter. Neither faction wants the question of whether this is what government is for discussed, and since they control the educational system and the media they can have the issue suppressed. And since they have also eliminated the independence of the judiciary, the constitutionality of what they do never gets dealt with either.

Voting has become quite an experience….even if the common man votes using common sense…the man who wins may be the man who can supply enough oil to keep the voting “machines” running…that are pre programmed to see only his name when the other guys name is entered and all the while convince himself that somehow what this machine does is completly leagal….and it is ….until he gets caught!

Earl has the right idea. If he is the Undecided Voter – pay him to swing the count. He gets paid.If by only one contender…. he knows which will bend or break the rules. If by both….. sorry America…. you are SOL.

In 1940, when my dad first courted my mom he wisely decided not to declare a political side but to ask his soon to be father-in-law what he thought of politics.Grandpa George thought about it for a minute then said“Son, if your a poor man you best vote democrat as they take care to treat folks as they’d like to be treated themselves. However if you ever do become a rich man you’d best vote republican since you’ve already proved treatin’ Other folks as you want to be treated isn’t a part of your way of thinkin’.”

Honestly, how many of you think it doesn’t matter anymore? That the system has become too corrupt? That the only solution is wholesale revolution? And that will never happen because the majority are simply too complacent?

If a few of you who know so much were just involved in a campaign…not just doorknocking and phoning but maybe a bit farther up the food chain…you actually might KNOW something.

I wouldn’t tell any of you how to feed a hog or tighten a bolt or whatever it is you do when your masters allow you to work. I know a bit more about this power game than many of you seem to.

That said…and if my comment bites, you just woke up a little bit…some of what you say is partially true. I know which part is true, and I know far more about the American process than evidently readers of my favorite strip do…
