Another American institution…strike that…another cherished institution has been found to have failed the young people it was supposed to be preparing for adulthood and show how neighbors are supposed to treat neighbors. I spent only a year as a cub scout, but I had a Boy’s Life subscription until I was a teenager. I hope this obscene lapse of character and honor results in punishments for those who failed to properly protect the children in the troop and children assaulted later. Do not mistake this abuse as mere molesting or just touching….it is an assault on the mind, body, and spirit of the youths violated. I hope the Boy Scouts can survive this, but not at the cost of protecting predators and those who protect them.With thoughts for the victims,C.
I can only speak for my local area, but I can tell you that around here no one lets public school teachers (or custodians, or anyone else on the public school payroll) get away without prosecution. These people are serious about keeping the kids safe.
