The Marine “barracks” in Beirut? Any one of hundreds of attacks on our ARMED outposts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Viet Nam, or any other “danger spot” world-wide. How about WTC on 9/11, Murrah building in Oklahoma City?
Did someone screw up? Yes, it appears so, maybe, but there IS only so much one can do in a FOREIGN COUNTRY, especially when we have limits on our legitimate “military presence” on their soil. Throw in they’re still a bit in the throws of revolution, and yes, it does get “sticky”.
Working at State often IS dangerous in some parts of the world. Even when Marines ARE present, they may NOT be enough to stop bad things from happening, like well, in Tehran when Carter was President. Gee, how odd that the folks getting arms from Reagan just happened to release the hostages five minutes after he took office. Sure glad there was no “deal” made prior to THAT event!

What does something that happened over 20 years ago have to do with something that happened last month? Reagan screwed up in Beirut, and Obama screwed up in Benghazi. BTW, when is anyone going to investigate why the ambassador was even DOING in Benghazi?
