I thought Obama was being admirably polite. And Mitt was grossly rude (and full of lies). So, it would just be not-so-polite Americans who would think the opposite. However, this cartoon was drawn in Germany. Do people in Germany have different standards of rude behavior or am I rigidly polite?
I don’t think of staring someone down as being equaled to giving eye contact. But, as you said, this was a debate, and the debate is for the benefit of the audience. I have been to many a high school debate and never are they supposed to look at each other, they look at the audience. Second, Obama speaking four minutes longer, does not make him rude. Now, attacking Obama for citing Mitt on what has been campaigning as true, that would make Mitt a rude bully. Third, firing the moderator and Big Bird – in the event of his election – was rude, even if he did so with a combined but I- am-sorry-because-I-like-you attitude. I felt like I was seeing Donald Trump with his glee over firings.

Some suggest that Obama was affected by the altitude of Denver, being over 5000 ft. He had just arrived, Romney had been there for longer. Donno.
