John McPherson makes us howl at his adroit mix of everyday settings and extraordinary events. John’s offbeat, oddball characters turn up in familiar places, but their actions are always hilarious and unexpected.

had one of those things, just to test it I typed in a destination I used frequently 320 miles away.. it kept on reminding me that I was going the wrong way for the last 150 miles although the route I knew and was using was 28 miles shorter It is now lying at the rear of the garage gathering dust…

I like how when I miss a turn suggested by the GPS, the voice says “Recalculating” in such a resigned way as if it is shrugging its mechanical shoulders at having to work with such an idiot driver (me).

Go to the Schlossin cutoff….Cut off your Schlossin. Turn right at the rock that looks like a bear, and then a left at the bear that looks like a rock. You’ll come to a fork in the road.

The handheld models have 2 operating modes; walking & driving. The walking mode is usually the default mode. My son got one and claimed the GPS was trying to kill him by telling him he was on the wrong side of the road. It was in walking mode while he was driving.

My GPS is always saying bear left, which is really wierd. I’m not looking for bears, and we we don’t have any around here anyway.

Bob: I did once. My wife wanted to know where I got the fork, so I told her. Quite true. A straight line like that comes only once in a lifetime.

Maybe that’s because the bear left?
