@motivemagus – So I think you are saying that it is perfectly justifiable to deny admission to a Qualified White student in favor of an Unqualified Black student because there are pockets of racism out there. You even use the fact that people don’t see the world like you do as proof of racism existing.
By that argument – We would never be able to put preferential treatment aside. I was born into a country where I was blamed for Slavery and Jim Crow (though I never participated in either). Now you would blame my Children and my Grandchildren in perpetuity. It’s high time that African Americans be expected to stand on their feet and take responsibility for their own life’s choices.
Let me offer you another problem. When Universities prefer the lesser academically performing students to meet some arbitrary quota – They also lower the average performance of all the students. Meaning the University either dumbs down the course work i.e. cheapens the value of the diploma or allows those lesser performing students to fail out. This cheats the current students along with all the previous graduates. In my business we do judge you by grades and the University from which you earned them.
Your peers in college will either force you to work harder, think harder, and learn faster (In colleges focused on academics) or allow you to coast and get good grades for nothing (In colleges focused on complexion). Which school will better prepare you to compete in todays job market.
Oh and before you tell me there is value to diversity. Let me point out that China, Korea, and Japan are all doing very well with a homogeneous workforce.
My daughter is applying for Medical School right now. She is graduating from her Undergrad Magna Cum Laude. She is getting rejection letters from Medical schools. If she is getting them because there are better students out there I am disappointed but feel that is right. If she is getting them so the Medical School can admit more minorities I am furious.
