Another issue that should have been long settled except for the ignorance of the extremists that want to control every part of your life.

While I understand the passions of those who call themselves pro life, what I do not understand is the life they expect an unwanted child to have. If our society had the resources and family’s waiting to adopt an unwanted child, or a child born as a result from rape and incest, perhaps I could be more sympathetic to Pianoguy24, Onguard, DigustedTaxpayer, OrthodoxCatholic and others who are angrily anti abortion.
We cannot even feed, dress, educate, and provide healthcare for the children we want, the children whose parents struggle to care for them.
I understand the “logic” of the anti abortion side. If people don’t want to have children, they shouldn’t have sex. I also believe that is unrealistic expectation. And the idea of forcing a woman to bear the child of the man who raped her is, in my opinion, equivalent to giving the woman to the inquisition. It is cruel to the mother and the child.
the cartoon is painful to look at, but making abortion illegal will not stop abortions, it will just make them more dangerous and those who want to protect the unborn over the mother are quite simply, cruel.
    That said.
This is not an issue for the gov’t to be involved in. It is between a woman and her doctor and her conscience. Gov’t is supposed to protect the borders, promote the common good, and to not waste public funds. The partisan politicians use this topic to keep us divided and to prevent us from working on those issues where we can agree. Things like clean water and safe food and bridges we can drive across without fear.

Define “baby.” A piece of nonviable genetic material sustained only by extreme life support?
Some of the extremists think that a fertilized egg is a “baby.” By that kind of definition, you had better not pull out a hair: you have pulled out several living cells with human DNA.

So, Tigger, you think everyone should be able to purchase and keep any and every kind of weapon?
You know, machine guns, grenades and launchers, bombs, etc.?
If not, YOU are against our 2nd Amendment rights.

ah, did I say korea, meant Dakota, but that’s right you all know what I meant.

OK so how do you feel about the latest demand that IF the “child” is aborted and yet manages to be “alive and breathing on it’s own” the doctor and woman have the right to go ahead a kill that child?

    @Ketira shena Pretarasedrin

Please, let me help with that. From the article linked:

In 2008, approximately 1.21 million abortions took place in the U.S., down from an estimated 1.29 million in 2002, 1.31 million in 2000 and 1.36 million in 1996. From 1973 through 2008, nearly 50 million legal abortions have occurred in the U.S. (AGI).

OK, so let’s look at “murder by all guns” in the USA.

I looked at one British publication and one Nation Master study for confirmation.

    The UK Guardian says this:

And the murder figures themselves are astounding for Brits used to around 550 murders per year. In 2011 – the latest year for which detailed statistics are available – there were 12,664 murders in the US. Of those, 8,583 were caused by firearms.

    And the “study” says:

“murders with firearms (all types) in the US are 9369 for the year 2002.

I’m sure there is more recent information out there if you want to look and do the work yourself.

Bottom line, onguard is correct since in 2002 there were 1.29 million abortions all of whom would have been children had they been left to live. Death by firearms? A miniscule (in comparison) 0.7% of the death toll by abortion. And that isn’t “children” alone with death by firearms, that is every last one of them.

    You must be so proud.

since you want to play with numbers. The rights to a legal safe abortion and the life of 1 born, grown, sentient woman US citizen outweights the product of 50 million abortions.

to paraphrase ORTHODOX CATHOLIC (though I don’t agree with his sentiment at all) it’s merely ground up hamburger meat (ick).
