While I understand the passions of those who call themselves pro life, what I do not understand is the life they expect an unwanted child to have. If our society had the resources and family’s waiting to adopt an unwanted child, or a child born as a result from rape and incest, perhaps I could be more sympathetic to Pianoguy24, Onguard, DigustedTaxpayer, OrthodoxCatholic and others who are angrily anti abortion. We cannot even feed, dress, educate, and provide healthcare for the children we want, the children whose parents struggle to care for them.I understand the “logic” of the anti abortion side. If people don’t want to have children, they shouldn’t have sex. I also believe that is unrealistic expectation. And the idea of forcing a woman to bear the child of the man who raped her is, in my opinion, equivalent to giving the woman to the inquisition. It is cruel to the mother and the child.the cartoon is painful to look at, but making abortion illegal will not stop abortions, it will just make them more dangerous and those who want to protect the unborn over the mother are quite simply, cruel. That said. This is not an issue for the gov’t to be involved in. It is between a woman and her doctor and her conscience. Gov’t is supposed to protect the borders, promote the common good, and to not waste public funds. The partisan politicians use this topic to keep us divided and to prevent us from working on those issues where we can agree. Things like clean water and safe food and bridges we can drive across without fear.Respectfully,C.

So, Tigger, you think everyone should be able to purchase and keep any and every kind of weapon? -You know, machine guns, grenades and launchers, bombs, etc.?-If not, YOU are against our 2nd Amendment rights.

just another attack on women by republicans in the “laser focused on jobs” reign of ‘The War On Women’, this time the shot comes from north korea.ah, did I say korea, meant Dakota, but that’s right you all know what I meant.

since you want to play with numbers. The rights to a legal safe abortion and the life of 1 born, grown, sentient woman US citizen outweights the product of 50 million abortions. to paraphrase ORTHODOX CATHOLIC (though I don’t agree with his sentiment at all) it’s merely ground up hamburger meat (ick).

@bruceI am proud that in my nation and moreso my state a woman with a life and free will has the privacy and freedom to seek out whatever medical procedure she and her doctor want.and yes 1 woman, who has been born, with a life trumps and her rights under the law TRUMPS the “potential” of any number.childbirth is dangerous. How many women with ectopic pregnancies, or other life-threatening pregnancies would you be willing to sentence to death to save potential life. geez, talk about death panels!

    “@Bruce4671

Right!… but the pro abortion crowd – or could we say ‘anti-life crowd’ won’t listen to facts.By the way, if we who are pro-life are labeled ‘anti-abortion’, then can we not call the ‘pro-choice’ crowd, ‘anti-life’?"pro-choice is pro-life. we are for the life and rights of born citizens. you guys are SPECIFICALLY anti-abortion, so it’s more apt. You anti-abortionists seem to also fall into a demographic that is pro-death penalty, anti-education – that would help reduce unwanted pregnancies. Since it’s specifically abortion you’re anti- it’s an appropriate term. Pro-Choice is exactly that. Pro-choice provides education, PRE-NATAL care (unlike former senator Santorum – look him up on the internet), sex education and contraception.so that people can prevent unwanted pregnancy, plan families and raise healthy kids. but I guess those last three makes us anti-Catholic or ‘haters’ in your book, eh?

MM: I’m sure you’re aware it’s roughly 50% of fertilized eggs that fail to attach to the uterus, and are “aborted” naturally.

Which, a lot of “pro-lifers” claim that after an abortion, a woman can’t get pregnant. Well, my sister-in-law, who’s mental state indicated her only way to deal with stress was to get pregnant, had one kid, then an abortion (in Japan, not a cheap trip) then proceeded to have FOUR MORE KIDS, only one of whom wasn’t “legally” a bastard child!!

Yes, abortion, especially first trimester, should be automatically available, to any woman, no questions asked, and perfectly legal. Oh,, right, that “fetal heartbeat” thing, a little note, an earthworm has the same “beating heart” construction as that earliest “heart beat” detectable in an early fetus.

I’ve just been reading a fascinating book, “Cannibals and Kings”, by Marvin Harris — an anthropological account of the long term development of human societies. Harris is a cultural materialist, which means he argues for the close relationship between environment, economic structures, and social structures. Well, it’s more complicated, but that’s kind of the idea. Anyway, he has a really interesting discussion, running through the book, about infanticide, which he argues has been pretty much universal in human societies, even those which would not have admitted that they used it. For example, he talks about the rise of “Foundling Hospitals” in 18th century England: “But government was not capable of sustaining the cost of rearing children to adulthood and foundling hospitals quickly became de facto slaughterhouses whose prime function was to authenticate the state’s claim to a monopoly over the right to kill. Between 1756 and 1760 there were 15,000 admissions to London’s first foundling hospital; of those admitted, only 4,400 survived to adolescence.” And so on. Really interesting stuff. A little depressing, but interesting.

If you are not pro abortion, then why do you fight so hard for women to get an abortion? Why don’t you encourage them to have the baby and put it up for adoption? Don’t you know there are HUNDREDS of adoption agencies in America where the adoptive parents will PAY THE SUPPORT of the mother until the baby is born?

So, until you fight to give the BABY a choice to live, you are not pro-choice!

^open adoption is what dan savage and his partner did. Of course they checked off the little box that said they would accept a less than PERFECT child.there are tons of less than PERFECT children available for adoption. you can find them in orphanages and foster child programs in every state/county/town. Unfortunately for the couples looking for PERFECT children, those kids don’t meet their criterion. And we are fighting for fundamental bill of rights rights so that that USA citizens can retain their birthright to those rights. Among which is to retain the right to make their own decisions about their own bodies

“You are making my point for me. If there were far fewer abortions, there would be more babies to adopt.”your desire to adopt does not give you the right to tell a woman what to do with her body.

‘As far as abortion, I’m honestly torn on what side I fall under, but with the death penalty it is more straightforward . The guilty should pay.Hang a label on me, but hang the rapist/murderer !’-My point was that supporting the death penalty does not mean you are pro death.-People that are pro choice are not ‘pro abortion’.

^Actually, if you want to compare. Hitler forced polish women (and others that had the correct blonde/blue genotype) to be impregnated by Nazis and then forced them to carry those babies to term. The children were then kidnapped (or shall we say adopted). So if you want to make the connection to hitler, it’s right in line with what the anti-abortionists are trying to do.here is but one example:

Not sure who this comment was directed at but I’ll post it anyway. But I might venture a guess.

There’s only one of us being stupid here, and it isn’t me. I am referring to specific laws being proposed — the “personhood” laws — which define “human baby” as starting at the moment of conception. However, only about 30-50% of fertilized eggs fully survive to birth, so treating every single fertilized egg as a person deserving of protection is EXACTLY as stupid as any other cell in your body being protected. Should we “rescue” those 50-70% that don’t survive, or implant? How? Who will care for them? They’re basically smears of tissue with human DNA — no more. Most sane definitions of a “baby” include the ability for the baby to survive outside the womb (even the Torah doesn’t count a woman as pregnant until after the first trimester). So referring to an early-stage abortion, for example, as “intentionally tak[ing] a life” is just absurd. Would that life have survived outside the womb? So, yes, I do draw a line. It may be different from you. But I simply do not accept the “personhood” legal requirement. Your last paragraph is simply snide and insulting, and I’ll ignore it. Don’t you DARE conflate my views of what constitutes human life with some of the worst villains in history.

The guy was operating an unlawful abortion clinic. Stuff like this does not happen in other clinics. Quit trolling for sympathy. There is a difference between a live baby and an unborn fetus.
