There’s more than one way to open a bottle.

Yup, a hammer, or in this case, a ballot box…

Well one rule they need to bring in is that you can’t fillibust a Bill that you entered. I’m sure that the people who wrote the rules for congress didn’t even think of that one, but now we need it.

This is where conspiracy theories fall flat.
    .
Conspiring to throw the obvious bums out should be simple, but as an electorate we cannot even manage that.
    .
Actual complex actions are far far beyond the capability of large groups.
    .
How is that saying, take the highest IQ in the mob and divide it by the number of people in the mob.
Being unable to work together for common good kinda throws out working together for common bad as well.
    .
    Rule by committee? no.
We need a strong man willing to break the bottle, a group never will.

    @ Stipple
“A strong man willing to break the bottle”. Expound on that please. That is very like what the supporters of Saddam Hussein said about him. I really don’t think I understood you correctly, so set me straight.

There was supposedly a rule that on the first day of a new session you could pass a bill (in the Senate) with only a simple majority. The idea was to make anyone who filibustered actually talk or have another Senator talk the whole time.
When they missed their chance, I read that the next fight might be to define the first day of a new session. ???

I’m trying to understand the meaning of this. Isn’t that a twist-off cap?

Filibusters have almost ALWAYS been used to delay passage of a bill that would benefit people that have been denied rights. Why is it held in respect by the ‘worlds greatest deliberative body’?

Where was Bennett when The Republicans controlled The Senate and Democrats used Filibustering to Block Bills? I believe he was 1000% supportive for Filibustering, as in his words, it kept The Senate from passing stupid bills, now that the shoe is on the other foot. Suddenly Bennett is against Filibustering.

Look again, you need a bottle opener to open the bottle

I like this cartoon and have already written to my legislators demanding, politely, a change to the law. As “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” is one of my favorite movies, I use it as a model for how one person can make a point, and perhaps a difference.
    Respectfully,

Where were all you oh-so-self righteous filibuster busters when Obama spoke out in favor of the tactic during his ’08 campaign?

He says Libtards, you say Reslugs. He says DemoTAXocrats, you say Conimbeciles. Man, you’re on a hypocrisy ROLL tonight! That’s some comedy gold, I tell ya.

OK, this is freakin’ hilarious! So I clicked on your name and I notice that in your very next post after you scolded Mr. Guess for using such uncivil words as “libtard” and “DemoTAXocrat,” you say “You contards can go eff yourselves.” Hahahahahh. You’re too much, man!
