Newlyweds Cathy and Irving navigate the treacherous waters of couple-hood. From pampered pets to prying parents, they’ve got a lot to learn! Wedding or not, it’s still all about Cathy - she personifies the young career woman and her typical daily obstacles. Ice cream, panic attacks, stress and love are all in a day’s work. We read, we identify, we laugh. Who could ask for more?
Cathy is the Everywoman. She deals with diets, self-esteem, in-laws, and letting her husband know that she is the boss. Everyone can identify with her shopping, bills, taxes, planning for the future and coping with her husband’s incessant computer golf games. Whether you are a newlywed, single, or have been married for decades, all will enjoy the daily predicaments of Cathy and Irving.

Wow, three losers in one room and in one company. Not counting Mr P. who isn’t there. Cathy is technically not a loser so three is the current count.
Morning Susan who’s not a loser either. :-) Morning lightenup I love that Inspector Gadget is back. He’s why I didn’t know you were a female-type woman last year. How far we’ve come.
hi mom!
Sunny and 63 this a.m. Billy is taking me into town and helping me walk around the block. Non-PT day but I gotta keep on.

The second one, Pamela, cracked me up! I love it when a phone goes off and you can see 5 people fumble around looking for theirs. And a pager!! LOL!!
Good morning, Aaron! Hope your walk went well! Sounds like a lovely day there.
Da-da-da-da-da-da-Inspector Gadget!♪♫ Go go gadget hat! My kids love it when the message self destructs. LOL!!
I left a message for you and lindz.coop yesterday…

Looks like the only person who’s physically and mentally whole is Cathy.
Is that because she didn’t go on any vacation, hmmm??
Good morning, Aaron—so glad that you’ll be returning to work in the fall.
Good morning, Billy, Lightenup, KFG, GsMom, and the rest of the “Cathy” nuts.

Cathy as the mentally whole person … don’t know if I’ll ever get over that one! And what did happen with problems with rain and ants while “roughing it?” Oh well!

For all the good gals and guys out there on Lucky Friday the un-13th:

As friend AnonaMona said, virtual calories mean everyone can have some. :-D

Hang on a minute – I may need a spoon for each hand.

Wow, that looks good, Billy! Can you deliver it by e-mail, flavor in tact?! ;-)

I’m with you, lightenup—the line about the cricket made me laugh out loud. This is the first time in memory that my laughing has overpowered my eye-roll, too. :)
Have a great weekend, all.

Whatever happened to actual vacations in order to get away from all the stress at work? And why would anyone want to risk injury of ANY kind trying to answer a page, phone call or e-mail from WORK . . . the very place they’re supposed to be trying to get away from while they’re on this so-called vacation?!?!? When there are 3 nut jobs making Cathy look normal, it once again makes me feel like I’m living in “The Twilight Zone”!!!!!
HI, AARON & DR. BILLY!!!!!
Thank heavens there aren’t any calories in virtual desserts or I’d have gained about 5 lbs. by now with the Death By Chocolate cake, the Crepes Suzette and, of course, today’s strawberry/blackberry dessert (is it a parfait?) over the last few days!!!!! YUMMY!!!!!!!!!! ;-)
Good evening, Hobbes (if you should happen to drop by), lightenup, lightenupjr., K.F.G., Susan, lindz.coop, rgcviper, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, hendelca, Gator007, legaleagle48, Willi Nilli, mollie05, AnonaMona, soonergal, simpsonfan2, GreggW and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here tonight. As always, great to “see” you all!!!! Happy Friday, everyone . . . it’s the weekend again!

Mom! yeah, it’s a parfait. The recipe calls for 3/4 cup of Philly Cream Cheese. Mom subsitutes vanilla yogurt that she strains through cheese cloth. Same texture but easier on the diet.
Note, folks, that all of the stuff we’ve posted for food items over the weeks has been that afternoon’s or evening’s meal / dessert. Four of us in this household, all slim and trim, very low bad cholesterol, high energy (which I have to tame a bit in me because I fell on my hip today while walking. Ouch). My only complaints are about how I sleep so badly sometimes. Billy said once that he’s never seen anyone sleep less than I do. Sigh. So true. :-(

Hi lightenup — I saw your message. I’m absolutely with you on the maturity thing and I have known many 9 year olds that are quite capable of staying alone. I also can agree with Aaron — particularly on the fire issue and that was the primary reason we always cautioned against leaving young children alone — they panic. I just wanted to alert you to the potential consequences — and all it takes is one nosy neighbor to cause you more trouble than you ever want to see. I also agree that teenagers don’t belong home alone for different reasons. I only ever took one kid away for the “home alone” issue and that was when the mother told me that her 18 month old daughter was “really quite mature” and would be “just fine” left locked in her bedroom while her mom panhandled up on the (busy) street corner. Folks that dumb shouldn’t have kids.

Hi other Cathyites!! Was this a contest to see who could do the dumbest thing while on vacation? It looks like they all won (or lost) depending on how you look at it.
Hope your hip is ok Aaron — beeeee careful. Can’t remember if I told everyone about my husband’s fall off the cottage porch backwards with a 7ft high, 150 lb cabinet in his arms. It’s about a 3-4 ft drop onto solid rock. Just proves his head is just as hard as I thought it was — he’s doing fine. Good thing too — we’re about an hour from any hospital and don’t even have an address. (Sorry if this is a repeat — I can’t remember much these days — I’m studying for the SW licensing exam and all I know is Freud etc.).
