   KFG re: your question last night: I feel like that all the time, on duty or not. No, I don’t think that’s weird to think that way at all when hearing fire sirens or ambulances. I still wonder too. I’ve lost a very very small handful of patients over the years and I know I’ve helped about a gazillion. I trust your record isn’t that far off from mine. That you still wonder shows you have a heart for those in need. Good for you. :-)

    

   As for me, at the end of summer I’m going back full time, as both firefighter and paramedic. I still got healing to do, but it’s forward progress because I want to keep my career. Friend Gabe (my paramedic shift partner) is going back in a couple weeks. He’s healed nicely. I’m still working on it. Cap’n says the decision to come back is mine, but the whole squad wants me back. Nice huh?

   Good morning, Aaron! I’m sorry your pain medication is messing with your sleep so much. :-( And Billy’s “there, there” didn’t work? Hm, we’ll have to come up with something… Would some soft singing help? I used to sing the chorus to Bob Marley’s “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” when my youngest wouldn’t stop crying. :-) I’m glad you’re progressing though – just wish that you didn’t have to go through it. Tell Gabe we’re happy he’s doing okay too.

    For me, vacation means going AWAY from work, and not thinking about it. Based on this comic, looks like I’m one of the loony ones.
