Tomato soup?

Owls need their protein!

Too bad Calvin can’t stay up late like an owl. You know without getting in trouble.

The sure shot cure for every affliction – Mom!

Consider yourself lucky. Not very many owls get treated to tomato soup.

Chicken soup. What could it hurt?

Dad takes prunes, stuffs them with something good and then dips them in chocolate and calls them mice

Mr. T was right: Every day IS Mother’s Day!

Personally, I’d rather have Chicken Noodle Soup…especially if I’m not feeling good.

Whether Calvin is a boy, an owl, or whatever else he can think of Mom will always be ready to show him some love!

If Calvin were to ever grow up, oh! what an entrepreneur! No end to that imagination!!

What a kid!!!

I always hated tomato soup as a kid. Maybe if the alternative had been mice, I would have appreciated it more.

Of course, that was the horrible canned condensed soup (I don’t need to mention the brand). Maybe a made from scratch tomato soup could actually be good.

But no mice.

I like the fact that Mom doesn’t even bat an eyelid when he told her that he’s an owl. She just went right along with it. Way to go Mom!!!

I thought Calvin liked gross things. Or is that just when Susie’s around?

Maybe the transmogrifier effect was just delayed a bit? Weak batteries?

Watterson straddles the worlds of imagination (Calvin as owl) and “fact” (Mom and lunch) and gives insight into both. Which is worse, mouse soup, or plain old tomato?

Someone needs a serious reality check.

Scary part is, mom didn’t seem to think there was anything the slightest bit strange about that conversation.

And you don’t have to poop out the bones and fur.

what! no Grilled Cheese to go with the Tomato soup! :)

Well, for anyone wondering if Hobbes is really alive or Calvin is just delusional, here’s your answer.

Mmm. Creamy tomato soup, I love it.
