Brewster Rockit: Space Guy! is a satirical, retro-futuristic comic strip that chronicles the (mis)adventures of the lantern-jawed, lunkheaded, and sometimes childlike Brewster Rockit, captain of the space station R.U. Sirius, and his crew of misfits. Under Brewster’s brave and eternally-optimistic leadership, Pam is the tough and pragmatic second-in-command, Cliff is the completely unqualified engineer, Dr. Mel is the scheming science officer, Agent X is the mysterious government agent who gives them their orders and hides their existence from the world, and Winky is the cute, luckless kid who manages to get hurt a lot.

Actually, public safety would be the province of the dark haired alien. UofChicago indicated that 100,000+ crimes were averted due to the would-be victim having a firearm. Other government stats go as high as 400,000. The day of the Sandy Hook murders, a person tried to do it at the Clackamas Town Center in Oregon, but was stopped by a concealed carry. Only local news carried that one.
.
The sad fact is that 8,000+ of 11,000 homicides in the U.S. and 100,000 homicides in Mexico could be eliminated if people gave up their street drugs/party drugs. Gang activity accounts for most homicides. Drug money pays for gangs. When Canada and California legalized, it was a boon for the gangs and cartels, both in the explosion in imports and in the numbers of users. The same will be true for Colorado and Washington, given what happened in Oregon, the Netherlands, Canada, California, the Netherlands, drug zones in Switzerland, etc.

The public safety people are the ones who want to be in control.

Not sure why you bring Canada, the Netherlands, and Switzerland into it because they are heavily regulated (yes, know all about Canada’s and Switzerland’s high gun ownership, but that doesn’t change that they are far more regulated than here – nationwide, which is of real importance). And all those countries have a much lower gun death rate than the US.

True! And before the mental patients rights movement promoted by the ACLU got so many institutionalized people back on the streets and made it nearly impossible to get them institutionalized, the shooters in CO, WV and NJ would have been locked up to protect themselves and society.

Was not the ACLU, was the Republican Party and its endless cutting of the mental-health budget. Thanks, Grover Norquist!

Guess you could say that the ray-gun control folks are up in arms and shootin’ off their mouths . . . ☻
.
And when anyone uses a gun to comit a crime, they are not apt to follow the gun laws anyway, and more laws won’t change that. . . .
I would rather have a gun and not need it than not have one and be in a situation where it would be useful . . . ☺

How often does anyone find themselves in a situation where a gun is needed ? In all my years I can honestly say never. A gun used for its intended purpose is designed to maim & kill. I’m all in favor of it being used for hunting & skeet shooting but used for protection against who ? The boogeyman ? All too often guns get stolen or a child gets it with horrific results mishandling of the firearm.

Drug gangs wouldn’t be a problem if totalitarian statists would stop trying to ignore market forces, and respect peoples’ right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Legalization HURTS drug gangs, rather than helps them.
