Meet Aaron McGruder’s The Boondocks: Huey and Riley Freeman, Jazmine DuBois, and Huey’s best friend, Caesar. This comic strip reflects the racial diversity and complexity of our world. Combining Huey’s childish antics with contemporary political and social satire, the strip explores the terrain where dashikis and Brand Nubian CDs meet The Gap and Hanson.

That is racial profiling

The profile is? [White = Clueless]? Of course it’s more complex than that. In the San Gabriel Valley, we also get [DWO = Driving While Oriental], which is too often apt.

My lady says all men are idiots. No profiling there.

This comic is nothing more than pandering, racist garbage. No more Boondocks for me, thanks.

I suppose Aaron is doing a little ‘see how YOU like it’ stuff– a point is made , but it loses it’s edge when you keep making it….and making it….and making it…….

I think Mr. McGruder would be happy to see that he’s got so many people reacting to and talking about his work. We all only feel our own pain. Getting a glimpse of others’ is important. He’s giving you the opportunity to, if not walk a mile, see what it’s like standing in someone else’s shoes.
I think The Boondocks is as timely now as it was when it was created. Sure, the names have changed. I just don’t think we’ve all grown quite as much as we’d like to believe.

Lew, most men are idiots. Also, most women are idiots. Watch the news sometime, you’ll see what I mean.

numerous negative stereotypes aimed at blacks have been subject in “boondocks”. very strongly so in the animated series.. if Mcgruder takes some “racist” jabs, he doesn’t limit them to any one race. just an observation. not all that sure what i think about many of these cartoons, so i won’t suggest what anybody else should.( not this time anyway)

I’m with piksea. Just now I added a comment to June 24th about how people tend to preach to the choir, and picking a single anecdote as evidence is very satisfying (but doesn’t really convince anyone else). I agree with the comment (yesterday?) that everyone feels their own pain/insults/etc more, so everyone feels like they’re the one getting unfair treatment. We all know that any two people on a crowded sidewalk or highway can feel that way regardless of race, sex, etc.
Aaron McGruder is great at making people look at the truth. Flogging an issue to the point of overkill or ridiculousness is a way to make just about any meaningful point come across and sink in.
