By “What They Meant By That”, Scott meant, “Bull$#!%”.

“What can I do for you” and “How can I help you” fit this as well.

The wonderful company I work for just cut my hours by 30%. Yet, they expect me to get the same amount of work done. I guess that’s what they teach them in management class. Taking money out of employees pockets will inspire them to work harder. Right.

I believe the phrase being used is #**k off.

Nah, management doesn’t need to inspire anyone to work harder. They just remind the rank and file that there’s a thousand guys out there desperate enough to take twice the work for half the pay, and then give themselves a bonus for improved productivity.

You might consider the real reason your work hours (and mine) have been cut, has to do with costs added by the “Affordable Care Act” The new health care law dictates if you work more than 30 hours, a company has to provide you with healthcare. But just because they are saving themselves all that money by giving you less hours, they do expect you to accomplish the same amount of work.

I’m a part-time employee on disability, struggling to make ends meet. (I know, make one end vegetable.) The ACA had nothing to do with what my employers did to me.

    They’ll blame it anyway.

In your case, that could be true. Doesn’t change that it was the case of what happend in my job, and that the Affordible Care Act is clear that if an employee works 30 hours or more, the employer must provide insurance.

It also doesn’t change the fact that your employers aren’t so wonderful.
