    gee – I thought the villain in Star Trek: Into Darkness turned out to be the bad guy from Atonement who had been cryonically frozen by the Red Skull! BUT I really liked when Alice Eve showed up as the hot blonde. . ..

    I think it should be “The Search for an Original Plot”.

    Yes I’ll have to wait until it is out of DVD to be able to talk about it in most forums.

    Will the next one be entitled “Attack of the Lens Flares” or “The Camera-Shake Conspiracy”?

    The new Star Trek is a great movie. It is very refreshing in this day of remaking some movies over and over like Superman and Spiderman to reuse favorite characters and familiar villains in a whole new way. Gene Roddenberry would thoroughly approve of this new movie. It uses his Alternate Universe concept perfectly.

    Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but the Star Trek reboot is not an alternate universe, it is an alternate time line. As far as I know, no episode or movie Gene Roddenberry had anything to do with invalidated everything that had been made before.

    Gene would have definitely approved because he was all about making the money, all the way back when Star Trek was just a TV show.

    I like to explore alternate realities.

    One big thing here is that we are seeing Kirk without all of his back story with a father. The years at the Star Fleet Academy and the time on other ships moving up the rank to captain. He is literally plunged into it and he is a wild child barely tamed. And that is just one of the characters changed by the destruction of a certain planet.

    He was also all about the story telling and showing there are new ways of thinking and doing too.

    I don’t know what movies you have been watching but the two new Star Treks are indeed an alternate Universe, this was explained quite well in the first movie. The time flow in the New Universe is behind where it was in the Original for sure but it is not just a time travel thing.

    @Redkaycei Repoc

    Correct. If it was just time travel, there wouldn’t have been a different history before Spock’s entry in this timeline. Unless the events of Voyage Home already altered the timeline.
