Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 17 “Deader Than Dead”(36) 3/8/2013 Friday
Panel One
Brucutu and the v-raptors can see spirits and so far they don’t care about the ghostly Baron or why he lingers near them any more than any of the other ectoplasmic creatures that are there all of the time.
Panel Two
Alley gets the driver to turn the Bradley and its ammunition trailer around and follow the vampires. They must end this slaughter as fast as they can, if they can.

Alley Oop was much larger, or conversely the Red Rex was much smaller. Even from yesterday. When this story started the Red Rex was maybe 8’ tall. Now it is 28’ tall!

Prehistoric vitamins.

Oop keeps shrinking!! In the first panel, his legs extend below T Rex’s eyes and almost touch the v shaped accent below the eye, in the second panel, there is no way his leg would extend that far…

There is a long tradition in the art of many nations — and in cartooning as well — of symbolism taking precedence over realism. And after all, the whole premise of Alley Oop is hardly one of devotion to realism!

Still, there’s no excuse for sloppy art work.

It’s not “sloppy” art. It’s tight, concise, well inked, and beautifully colored. Look around gocomics for three minutes and see what passes for art these days. Get over the minor inconsistencies and enjoy the positives.

I can just imagine the reaction from all those who love Dick Tracy and were most unhappy back before 2011 when Dick Loacher was way past his prime mangling a great comic. Now it is a great comic again since he was replaced. We only want that here.

I seem to remember a few people having their accounts deleted during the "Dick Tracy Wars*
An honest critique seems to be acceptable, but there is a line that can be crossed where criticism of the cartoonists crosses over into a violation of the terms of service here at GoComics
Pretty sure that line gets crossed in the comments section here almost daily, a few of the people who comment here are lucky that GoComics has been choosing to be so tolerant
So far

I googled dicktracywars and got one hit. Landsberg: Ende der Ermittlungen wegen … – Augsburger Allgemeine
www.augsburger-allgemeine.de/…/1023660… – Translate this page
The translation was not of the hit but the whole page.

I suppose that it’s the old " If you say something often enough you’ll convince people you’re right "; it’s a comic strip not a doctoral dissertation or scientific hypothesis or whatever. You’ve made your point – give it a rest.
